it's now 2003. 2003 simply spells the end of our childhood years officially with the expiry of our student ezlink. for many of the guys i know out there, many of you will be enlisted this month, starting with matthew next monday. i have been in there for 3 weeks, hmm... i am in the ptp/enhance batch. so i kinda know nuts on how pes E people are faring. but as far as i have heard, they are a slack bunch. they are exempted from almost all activity that the biggest problem the sergeant faced is that they dunno what to do with these people due to the constraint. relax, that is all i can offer. i was mentally prepared for ns but i got a big shock when when i first enter it. it was dismaying. even vjc pe dept have done better in training me up physically.
here are a few things to take note for those pes A and B people joining the bmt enhance from 20 january onwards.
what to bring ( i mean i omit some items, but you should know what they are) : 1) underwear....dun leave home without it
2) cloth hangers and peg
3)detergent/wasing powder and scrub .... you seriously have to do your own laundry
4)liquid kiwi... they will provide solid kiwi, but to polish the boots using solid will take a long time. trust me, buy your own liquid kiwi. make sure its black, it save a lot of time.
5) plaster...
6) towel, you will need it, their towel take forever to dry
7) goggles... there is swimming lessons, unless you tell me your spec will serve just fine...
i have to stress that the first few days are really tiring with lots of administrative stuff to handle but things will get better. the truth is the first 3 days were hard for me. i didn't sleep well on the eve of my enlistment, neither did i sleep well during the first night in my bunk. with 2 days of fatigue and homesickness setting in, you are gonna feel miserable. its only when i start to form my own clique with my section that things has become better.
damn, feeling totally tired and uninspired. i just want to be of some help. read it, its really gonna help trust me.
oh 1 last thing, you need self discipline. lots of it. vulgarities in my company is bad that i beginning to find my patience wearing thing on some people. and most importantly is to book out as a civilian, not a soldier. enjoy your last few weeks and subsequently, get yourself mentally prepared for bmt. be prepared. i had a slight glimpse of the time table. its definitely more tough than ptp people.

oops... its been a long time since i last post here. this is already my 3rd bookout, which mean i have neglected this thing ever since the first night of my first bookout. ireally don't feel like dwelling too much on army stuff. training is getting tougher alright, somehow, before you know it, its over. fitness? improved a tiny bit... sigh... very disappointing. its really a tiny bit of improvement. as for weight...lost 4kg since the first bookout.
enough said about army. i was collecting my edusave merit busuary thingie on sunday and 2 things in particular struck me. firstly, the way that the supposed top students in every school behaved. let's call it bad for a start. uniform, sloppily worn, walked onto the stage in a laid back manner, shook hand with the guest of honor walked away in such a rude fashion that i wonder how the guest of honor could maintain the smile across his whole face throughout the whole ceremony. granted, most of them are from neighbourhood school, but some of the people who has the biggest attitude problem are from well known schools like NJC, CHIJ St Nicholas and NUS. i always feel that after being in the education system for so long, there must be distinction in our behaviour which make other people says stuff like" this guy/gal has manner" or something. ok, ok. i mean i was also one of those atittude problem bunch on a normal day, but i felt so sorry for the guest of honor that i acted like a well educated geek. sigh...what is coming to educated people these day? i would definitely classify most people around me as educated as most of you people are bound for university. how do you think you behaved? i realise very little separate ah bengs and educated people nowadays. we people scold vulgarities, dressed in a fashion that don't distinuguish us from them, and the way we carry outselves...equally bad... ok most of it are MYSELF, but you people are guilty of some of it too. education has failed in many aspect, in a sense, we only behave a bit when we dawn our school uniform, and once out of it, we are part the street culture which set by the bengs and lians.
2nd thing...haha...kinda embarrassing. in 1996, somewhere after my psle, i went to a fren's house. entered a lift. 3 person, me, my fren and another gal, one year my junior also in the prefectorial board. just as the lift door was about to close, i said hi to her and gave her my all time famous grin. somehow, she got shocked, open the lift door and ran out... i felt like some pervert then. heck, dunno what got into me. nevertheless, 6 years later, i saw her again, good thing she can't recognise me, or don't remember me but i can still recognise who she is. not bad, she made it to NJC, people in my primary school rarely made it to JC....around 40 every year. and out of this 40 most ended up in YJC. what made her feat incredible was she was in em2, as far as i remember, my batch only have around 3 em2 student in jc. most end up in polytechnic. AND most of the people from my primary school had a hard time in jc. so for her, em2, to make it to NJC and still have such results...hmm not bad...in FACT...GOOD. and of course, i didn't forget her name, funny. all i know about her prior to this is her address, and that she was in my primary school, but i never knew her name. but NOW i know it, even though it served no purpose...haha... her name is Li Shumin. Any one knows her?
